Looking at the robust chassis, the cleanliness of the product’s design and the logical and ergonomic positioning of the controls, it’s very easy to see how KD12 can represent an “all-in one” solution. Weighing in at only 14 Kg, KD12 includes a powerful two-way 1000 Watt Class D amplifier, powering a 12” coaxial speaker. Onboard DSP controls the 5 built-in presets, which sit alongside a generous selection of IN/OUT connections. These include XLR/6.3mm Jack inputs with MIC/LINE switches, featuring 2 high-resolution microphone preamplifiers when operating in MIC mode.
Amongst other functions that make KD12 so intuitive to use - and standing as a testimony to how this instrument has been designed by musicians, for musicians - there is a onboard delay to accommodate for up to 100 meters, 5 user presets optimised for various applications, as well as Nova Audio’s DBL© dual-band limiters that monitor signal peaks efficiently and "musically".
Another detail that confirms the attention that technicians have dedicated to usability and ergonomics is the control panel. In addition to the robust and functional encoders for gain control and XRL/Jack connections, we can find a small yet bright screen that displays parameter information. This can be controlled by an equally convenient rotary controller, with the universally utilised "push to edit" function.
Nova KD12 can therefore be used in a monitor configuration, resting on the stage or, with the relative tools, in vertical configuration, thanks to the symmetrical dispersion that provides optimal coverage.
As for the sound quality? Nova has always used high-quality components for its products, including top-of-the-range loudspeakers from companies such as BMS©, B&C©, Beyma©, 18-SOUND© and Faital©.
