NES-1: DIGITAL SAX AND TRUMPET BY NUX

In recent years NUX has been able to earn a respectable place on the international scene with products related to the world of stringed instruments and electronic drums, giving rise to an ever-growing community of musicians and enthusiasts.

Building on this momentum and on the strength of technology acquired in its historic markets, the brand is now also entering the electronic wind instrument scene with the new NES-1, a digital saxophone that also supports trumpet fingering.

Integrating various tonal controls, user presets, Bluetooth, MIDI, and 50 sounds including woodwinds, brass, strings, synthesizers, Chinese instruments, and other styles, the NES-1 stands as a true sonic laboratory, both for those moving into more classical territories and for those who want to dare more.

Techniques such as overblowing are not a problem, thanks to the ability to play notes on four octaves, while the optimized layout of the physical keys minimizes the playing of accidental notes.

And could NUX's true flagship wireless technology have been missing? Of course not: for live performances and convenience of use in any situation, the NES-1 is equipped with a built-in 5.8GHz wireless system.

From an aesthetic point of view, the NES-1 boasts an elegant design, with two available finishes: White and Grey. Let us now take a closer look at its main features.

Large Screen, Intuitive UI

NUX NES-1 is equipped with a high-definition full-color LCD screen. The UI interface is intuitive and simple. Each sound comes with a picture and is clearly divided into four groups.

Sounds Great Without External Speakers

The NES-1 has two speakers, a 2-inch 5-watt speaker for full-range sounds, and a 1-inch tweeter for high/ultra-high frequencies.

The two speakers are loud enough for you to enjoy NES-1 personally and small groups, without needing to carry an extra speaker to complete your performance.

Change sounds while performing

The NES-1 features a M key design which you can use to quickly switch between three pre-stored sounds. When switching, you can monitor the current sound number in real time through the second screen at the top.

When you need to change keys during the same song, you can also use the M key to store the sound in different keys, and quickly recall them while performing

Dual Playing Controls

To enhance your controls over the tones, the NUX NES-1 offers a reed pressure controller in the mouthpiece, together with a pitch bend wheel using your right thumb.

The mouthpiece can be used to control the pitch like a saxophone, or control a vibrato effect. The pitch bend wheel can also be used to change the pitch and introduce portamento. You can even expand the range of the pitch to a major third for unique playing styles.

Sampling sounds with real musicians

With our 20 years of experience in the R&D of software, hardware and sound design for digital musical instruments, we worked together with renowned musicians for the best sampling and processing for your playing experience.

Built-In 5.8GHz Wireless System: perform with freedom for 4.5 hours

When it’s time to plug the NES-1 into a mixer or PA, we went ahead and integrated NUX 5.8GHz wireless technology for plug and play.

The NES-1 itself is a wireless transmitter, and at the bottom of the instrument, we designed a magnetically storage compartment for the wireless receiver, which also is used to recharge it too! Simply take the receiver out, turn on the wireless function, plug it into an amp or mixer, and start playing wirelessly up to 4.5 hours on a single charge.

Endless possibilities with USB MIDI

The USB-C port of the NES-1 also supports USB MIDI. Wind musicians can control the MIDI sound source within any computer DAW. This makes the NES-1 is not only a digital musical instrument, but also a MIDI controller for wind musicians. The possibilities are virtually endless.
